There’s no doubt about it…
The upheaval of the world economy during the past couple years has created many problems and made running a business challenging.
If you’re feeling stressed and struggling to keep your business on track, you’re not alone.
But you can navigate it successfully — and even thrive — no matter how difficult the economy gets.
The ability spectrum
Let’s take a look at one simple — yet very powerful — truth about your business:
There is a spectrum of ability that every business owner finds themselves on. At one end of that spectrum is a point where you are completely the EFFECT of everything happening to you. At the other end of the spectrum is the point where you are totally in control and CAUSATIVE over things.
You are somewhere on that spectrum, and the closer to the CAUSATIVE end of the spectrum you are on, the more successful you will be with your business.
To succeed, you need to CAUSE things to happen the way you want them to happen. The better you can cause things, the more success you will achieve.

Getting stuck in problems
Now, think about this:
When you spend most of your time reacting to the economy and dealing with problems that are coming your way, you are being the EFFECT of your environment.
In other words, the environment is controlling you and you can start to feel you’re losing control and can’t seem to make things go the way you want.
Soon you’re spending your days spinning your wheels — solving an endless stream of problems rather than actively building and expanding your business. And it can feel like there’s no way off this hamster wheel.
You’re being the random EFFECT of things rather than strategically making things happen CAUSATIVELY.
The way out
Don’t worry… there is a way out of this trap.
The solution is to set aside some distraction-free time — even if just an hour or two a day — when you will ignore all the problems and situations that are demanding your constant attention.
Stop worrying about everything that is urgently grabbing at your attention, and focus — just for that short time you’ve set aside — on doing something that will move you back to the CAUSATIVE end of the ability spectrum.
The best activity to do during this distraction-free time you’ve set aside is this:
(1) PLAN for growth and success, and
(2) EXECUTE those plans.
Create and carry out plans for building your business infrastructure, optimizing and expanding your marketing, and GROWING your business.
By doing this, you start spending some time each day CAUSING things to go your way and moving your business forward.
You start to have fun creating on your business again (remember how that felt when you first started your business?) rather than just going through the tormenting grind of solving endless problems.
But what about these urgent problems?
Don’t worry, all those problems that are urgently demanding your time and attention will still be there when you return to them.
And your business won’t collapse during that hour or two you spend working on plans.
So go ahead, try it — let go for just that short time each day and work on building your business.
See if you don’t start to feel more energetic and excited about things.
Over time you will be able to spend more and more time on planning and carrying out those plans… and less time on handling problems.
Because those plans you are implementing will smooth out all the problems and make them drop away over time.
